    No matter how much effort you put into the fields, it will be useless and without reward.

    David protected Nabal's sheep expecting to be rewarded, but instead was rebuked.

    Conclusion:
    What does it mean to take God's name in vain? To make it useless or worthless. We are to respect and give respect to his name.
