1. Lot is Abraham's Nephew.

  2. Genesis 11:27-31
    Genesis 12:4-5

  3. Lot chooses the easy City life and is taken hostage by a foriegn power.

  4. Genesis 13:1-15
    Genesis 14:8-16

  5. Lot is told to leave Sodom and not to look back.

  6. Genesis 19:1-38
Lot's daughters decided to get their own dad drunk and have sex with him so they could get pregnant.
Hmmmm, do you think the wickedness of Sodom might have rubbed off a bit on Lot's daughters? I think so.

  7. Lot's relatives are given land by God and help Israel's descendents.

  8. Deuteronomy 2:8-29
Israel was not the only nation that God gave land to.
I think we forget that sometimes. The world certainly does not recognize that do they? Notice God helped Esau, Moab and Ammon to clear out giants from thier land as well. Israel did not just take whatever land they wanted. They were only allowed to take the land that God allowed them to and God specifically forbid them from taking certain lands.

  9. Lot's relatives conspired against Israel's descendents in the past and they will do so again in the future.

  10. Deuteronomy 23:1-8
Did I read these scriptures correctly? Verse 2, a bastard is not to enter the assembly even up to the 10th generation? God does not think having children out of wedlock is a little thing and neither should we, but our society is affecting us isn't it? Also, notice verse 7, You shall not abhor an Edomite. Can't you see why I get so upset when some of you bring in this hatred from other people and groups? Did you realize it was Moabites that tried to get Balaam to curse Israel? Some people want to curse the Jews today, which is a very bad mistake. God does not take that lightly and neither should we brethren. We need to learn a lesson from the Moabites and not do such things.
    Psalms 83:1-18
Doesn't verse 4 sound like a quote from Iran's current leader?
4"Come," they say, "and let's destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more."

The whole point God is trying to get across is that Ammonites, Moabites and Edomites should be merciful and helpful to Israel, because God expects it. We should be working together as brothers, not spewing out venom at one another. And when Israel and Judah are vulnerable, thier enemies will take advantage of them and God is going to hold them accountable for this mistake.

    Ezekiel 25:1-17
The message is really clear. Those who have mercy on God's people will be shown mercy. And those who do not show mercy on God's people are going to see the wrath and fury of God Almighty!

  11. Does God want us to remember the lessons of Lot?

  12. Luke 17:22-37
What is this Body he is talking about? Is it not the Church? Won't they be gathered in Jerusalem with the Messiah?

  13. Was Lot righteous according to scripture?

  14. 2 Peter 2:1-22

Conclusion:
It's easy to look back and judge Lot, but do we look in the mirror and judge ourselves accordingly? Our society is becoming more and more like Sodom and Gomorah every day isn't it? How is it affecting us? What if an angel came to your house tonight and told you it was time to leave? Would you be anxious to go? Would you instead say, "I've got to warn my relatives and friends." or "I have to sell my home." or "I need to find a new job first, you don't expect me to quit my job do you?" Or would you reply, "You show me where "The Place of Safety" is and I am out of here, NOW, Today, let's GO!" Brethren, I don't know where "The Place of Safety" is and I don't know when God is going to tell us to flee. But the day is going to come and he will warn his people. Are we going to be like Lot and have to be grabbed by the arm and dragged away? Or do we already long to get out of this filthy mess and we just need to be shown when and where God is taking his people for protection?
