- King Ahaz was not a righteous king and did not keep Passover.
- King Hezekiah the son of Ahaz, reestablished the keeping of Passover.
- King Manasseh son of Hezekiah was not a righteous king and did not keep Passover.
- King Amon son of Manasseh was not a righteous king and did not keep Passover.
- King Josiah the son of Amon becomes King of Israel at 8 years of age.
- King Josiah the son of Amon, reestablished the keeping of Passover.
- The Kings after Josiah did evil in the sight of God and did not keep Passover.
- 2 Chronicles 36:1-23
- We have examples of Kings not keeping Passover and Kings keeping Passover.
Which Kings did God have respect for?
- Those who do not learn from the mistakes of the past, are doomed to repeat them.
- Passover kept in the days of Ezra.
- Passover kept in the days of Ezekiel.
- No where in the Old Testament is the Passover ever referred to
any other day other than the 14th day of the first month.
Let's review the scriptures to be sure that statement is true.
- Exodus 12:1-11
- Exodus 12:18-22
- Numbers 33:1-4
- Leviticus 23:4-6
- Numbers 9:1-5
- Numbers 9:9-12
- Numbers 28:16-17
- Joshua 5:10-12
- 2 Chronicles 30:1-3
- 2 Chronicles 30:15
- 2 Chronicles 35:1
- Ezra 6:18-22
- Ezekiel 45:21
- Look at that. I have 13 scriptual references that Passover is on the
14th day of the first month and there are ZERO scriptual references that
refer to Passover as the 15th day of the first month. And yet, people
wonder why I get upset when they say I am not keeping the biblical Passover
on the 14th. They say the 14th is not what the bible teaches and the Jews
are keeping it correctly on the 15th. Why would you believe the Jews over scripture?
Isn't the reason we follow the New Moon calendar instead of the Jewish calendar
because our research has shown us the Jews don't have it exactly correct do they?
They are close, really close, but not quite scriptually correct.
- But for the sake of argument, let's suppose the Jews are correct and the
Passover lamb is killed on the 14th and then eaten on the 15th. Even with what
the Jews teach today, the Passover lamb is killed on the 14th
and the Messiah gave the Christian symbols for Passover on the evening of the 14th.
So even if the Jews are correct in when the Passover was eaten, why would you keep
the Christian Passover on any other day than the 14th in the evening when the
Messiah gave us the symbols? To be quite frank brethren, this division in the Churches of God
over this controversy over a 14th and 15th Passover baffles me.
For a Christian the argument is really irrelevent about when the Jews eat the Passover.
A Christian should be concerned with when did
the Messiah give the Christian Passover symbols and that is when and what we should
follow. The Messiah taught, this do in remembrance of me and that is what I try to do.
- And then there are Traditional Christians who try to tell us that Passover is not important and without meaning for a Christian today.
They claim there is no need to do a foot washing, eat unleavened bread, drink from the fruit of the vine
and sing a hymn on the 14th day of the first month. They have better traditions than what Christ gave us.
They call it Easter and try to convince us it replaces Passover. Let's see, how would our Messiah phrase it? Vain traditions of men, replacing
the commandments of God.
Next time we begin to look at the Passover in the New Testament.
