The Day of Atonement By James R. Faulkner |
Today, we are keeping the Day of Atonement.
However, according to the Jewish Calendar it was two days ago. Why didn't we keep it then
and why do we keep it now? That's a good question and we should have a good answer.
First, we might ask our Church of God friends who keep the Jewish Calendar to hand us their Holy Day pocket calendar they keep in their wallet or purse. Now, since they don't have that with them, we ask them, when is the next Holy Day? How do you know?
You know, before I started keeping the New Moon Calendar, I couldn't have told you, even though I had been keeping the Holy Days for over 20 years. I could have told you that Passover and Days of Unleavened Bread were in the Spring and Pentecost was in the Summer and Trumpets, Day of Atonement and Feast of Tabernacles were in the Fall, but that would be about it. Today, if someone were to take my pocket Calendar away, I could figure out when the Holy Days are and still keep them. So how do I know when the Holy Days are?
The New Moon Calendar - God's Calendar in the sky.
Some Church of God friends would want to differ with me on this Calendar and claim it is the Jews responsibility to keep the Calendar and we should follow when they proclaim the Holy Days are.
My reply for most Church of God friends would be as follows:
The Jews claim Passover is the 15th, but most Church of God brethren keep a 14th Passover when Jesus
kept it. You also don't keep Pentecost when the Jews set it, because they count 50 days from the First day
of Unleavened Bread, instead of the First Sabbath in the Days of Unleavened Bread.
Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong correctly saw the Jews were not setting these two days correctly,
so he would not follow them.
How can you tell me I should follow what days the Jews set, when you aren't doing it yourself?
Think about it though, if you postpone something, it should NEVER be BEFORE the event.
This year the Trumpets New Moon was spotted 2 days after the Jews proclaimed Trumpets.
They were clearly two days off because their Calendar is now obviously off.
I saw the New moon this year 2 days after they proclaimed Trumpets began
and I looked for it as did others 2 days earlier and it wasn't there.
You could just barely see it when it did appear,
which is another clear evidence that you could not have seen it 2 days earlier.
That was a real shocker for me when my research revealed this. This is clearly documented in Jewish
history of the Calendar. They know it didn't exist before Jesus and they don't care, because they
don't believe Jesus is the Messiah and that we should follow his example anyway. However, I do believe
Jesus is the Messiah and we should follow his example and follow the Calendar he followed.
And my research revealed to me that Jesus Christ kept the New Moon Calendar, so I changed.
Now, brethren, we don't look down on people that keep the Calculated calendar and we just hope they
show us the same courtesy don't we?
We can't follow the other Calendar if we know better, because to whom much is given much is expected.
The Calculated Calendar is very close and I believe we should show some tolerance
and respect and give people time to come to this knowledge.
Quite frankly, it took me 2 years to research it and finally make the decision to change.
I did not change at the snap of a finger, why should I expect others to change that quickly?
I encourage others to look into it for themselves and
when God is ready to open their eyes, they will see it and until then, I'm going to set the example God expects
me to reguardless of what others are doing. I keep the New Moon Calendar as an example for others and as training
for the World to come where I will, guess what, teach the New Moon Calendar to God's people then too.
Some at that time will begin to keep the Holy Days of God for the first time, never having that truth before.
Imagine how they will see us, brethren, who stood up in this dark world of Satans and are pioneers in keeping
God's Holy days. We are so blessed to have the understanding of the Holy Days now!
Leviticus 23:1-4
1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
2"Speak to the children
of Israel, and tell them, 'The set feasts of Yahweh, which you shall
proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my set feasts.
3"'Six days shall work be done: but on the seventh day is a
Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no kind of
work. It is a Sabbath to Yahweh in all your dwellings.
4"'These are the set feasts of Yahweh, even holy convocations,
which you shall proclaim in their appointed season. 5In the first
month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, is Yahweh's
Passover.
Notice the date, First month or first new moon in spring and 14th day.
Leviticus 23:6-8
6On the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of
unleavened bread to Yahweh. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.
7In the first day you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do
no regular work. 8But you shall offer an offering made by fire to
Yahweh seven days. In the seventh day is a holy convocation: you shall
do no regular work.'"
Notice the dates, First month 15th day and seven days keeping the last day as a sabbath which would be on the 21st day of the month.
Leviticus 23:15-16
15"'You shall count from the next day after the Sabbath, from
the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths
shall be completed: 16even to the next day after the seventh
Sabbath you shall number fifty days; and you shall offer a new meal
offering to Yahweh.
Notice the date, 7 sabbaths from the sabbath in the days of unleavened bread, and the next day making 50 days. It will vary from year to year what day of the month Pentecost occurs, because the Sabbath in The Days of Unleavened Bread varies from year to year.
Leviticus 23:23-24
23Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 24"Speak to the
children of Israel, saying, 'In the seventh month, on the first day of
the month, shall be a solemn rest to you, a memorial of blowing of
trumpets, a holy convocation.
Notice the date again, the Seventh month or seventh new moon is the Trumpets.
Leviticus 23:26-32
26Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 27"However on the tenth
day of this seventh month is the day of atonement: it shall be a holy
convocation to you, and you shall afflict yourselves; and you shall
offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh. 28You shall do no kind
of work in that same day; for it is a day of atonement, to make
atonement for you before Yahweh your God. 29For whoever it is who
shall not deny himself in that same day; shall be cut off from his
people. 30Whoever it is who does any kind of work in that same
day, that person I will destroy from among his people. 31You
shall do no kind of work: it is a statute forever throughout your
generations in all your dwellings. 32It shall be a Sabbath of
solemn rest for you, and you shall deny yourselves. In the ninth day of
the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall keep your
Sabbath."
These are very important scriptures for us today aren't they? The seventh month and 10th day of the month is today according to the New Moon Calendar that God put in the sky for us. Isn't that awesome? And also notice from these scriptures we see how God begins and ends the days. They begin at evening (sunset) and end at evening (sunset). As one day closes another day begins as the sun sinks from the horizon. Just another amazing part of God's Calendar in the sky.
Leviticus 23:33-36
33Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 34"Speak to the
children of Israel, and say, 'On the fifteenth day of this seventh
month is the feast of tents for seven days to Yahweh. 35On the
first day shall be a holy convocation: you shall do no regular work.
36Seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh.
On the eighth day shall be a holy convocation to you; and you shall
offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh. It is a solemn assembly; you
shall do no regular work.
Notice the dates again, 7th month 15th day and then 8 days later, the Last Great Day is also a holy day which would be on the 22nd of the 7th month. We realize that Jesus Christ replaces the sacrifices by fire.
God gave us these wonderful Holy Days. I sure hope we don't see them as a burden, but instead the great blessings they are that help us see and understand God's plan for the salvation of mankind. So what does the day of Atonement portray?
Leviticus 16:1-34
1Yahweh spoke to Moses, after the death of the two sons of
Aaron, when they drew near before Yahweh, and died; 2and Yahweh
said to Moses, "Tell Aaron your brother, not to come at all times into
the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on
the ark; lest he die: for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.
3"Herewith shall Aaron come into the sanctuary: with a young
bull for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. 4He
shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches
on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be clothed
with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his
body in water, and put them on. 5He shall take from the
congregation of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin
offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
6"Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering, which is for
himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.
7He shall take the two goats, and set them before Yahweh at the door of the
Tent of Meeting. 8Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats; one
lot for Yahweh, and the other lot for the scapegoat. 9Aaron shall
present the goat on which the lot fell for Yahweh, and offer him for a
sin offering. 10But the goat, on which the lot fell for the
scapegoat, shall be presented alive before Yahweh, to make atonement
for him, to send him away for the scapegoat into the wilderness.
11"Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering, which is
for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house,
and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.
12He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar
before Yahweh, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and
bring it within the veil: 13and he shall put the incense on the
fire before Yahweh, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy
seat that is on the testimony, so that he will not die. 14He
shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his
finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he
shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
15"Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, that is
for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his
blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the
mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: 16and he shall make
atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the
children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their
sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting, that dwells with them
in the midst of their uncleanness. 17No one shall be in the Tent
of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he
comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household,
and for all the assembly of Israel.
18"He shall go out to the altar that is before Yahweh and make
atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull's blood, and some of
the goat's blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar. 19
He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times,
and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children
of Israel.
20"When he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the
Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat. 21
Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and
confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all
their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them on the
head of the goat, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the
hand of a man who is in readiness. 22The goat shall carry all
their iniquities on himself to a solitary land, and he shall let the
goat go in the wilderness.
23"Aaron shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take
off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the Holy
Place, and shall leave them there. 24Then he shall bathe himself
in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come out and
offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make
atonement for himself and for the people. 25The fat of the sin
offering he shall burn on the altar.
26"He who lets the goat go for the scapegoat shall wash his
clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into
the camp. 27The bull for the sin offering, and the goat for the
sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy
Place, shall be carried forth outside the camp; and they shall burn
their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire. 28He who
burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and
afterward he shall come into the camp.
29"It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month,
on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall
do no kind of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a
foreigner among you: 30for on this day shall atonement be made
for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before
Yahweh. 31It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall
afflict your souls; it is a statute forever. 32The priest, who is
anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father's place,
shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the
holy garments. 33Then he shall make atonement for the Holy
Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for
the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the
people of the assembly.
34"This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make
atonement for the children of Israel once in the year because of all
their sins."
It was done as Yahweh commanded Moses.
Let me start by telling you about four similar kingdoms. They are all real kingdoms. One happened in the past. The second is currently happening. The third will happen in the near future. The fourth will happen in the distant future.
The first Kingdom we will call the Kingdom of the Spirits. A long time ago in a place far far away, there was a Kingdom of beings. All were happy and it was a great place to be, but then something happened that caused war in the kingdom. There was a great and terrible war in the kingdom. Then something else happened that ended the terrible war and once again peace was established in the kingdom.
The second Kingdom we will call the Kingdom of Mankind. It started very peaceful, until something happened and there was war in the Kingdom for thousands of years. War after war after war after war after war after war. It became a bad place to live where war became a common thing and a way of life for most people. Then something else happened and once again peace was established and war was abolished. Once again, it was great place to live.
The third Kingdom we will call the Kingdom of the Messiah. It will start with great peace and prosperity that will be established for 1,000 years. There will be great prosperity and happiness for all peoples and then something will happen and people will become unhappy and declared war on the rulers of the world, that had established peace for 1,000 years. Once again, there will be a great and terrible war. Then, something else will happen and peace will be established again.
The fourth Kingdom we will call the Kingdom of the Father. It will start with great peace and rejoicing, and a wedding. This kingdom is different than the other kingdoms that came before it and it will replace all of them. In this kingdom there will be no more war, no more death, no more tears. For eternity, Peace will reign supreme.
Does anyone see a pattern in these stories? What keeps happening to take away peace and bring about war? And then what keeps happening to bring peace back once again? The answer, I believe, is found in the day of Atonement and the goat that is banished to the wilderness.Let me fill in a few more details of these kingdoms with some scriptures.
The first kingdom, The Kingdom of Spirits, is in heaven. The event that happened that caused war in heaven was the rebellion of Satan. The event that happened that brought peace back was the banishment of Satan from heaven to the earth.Isaiah 14:12-15 12How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low! 13You said in your heart, "I will ascend into heaven! I will exalt my throne above the stars of God! I will sit on the mountain of assembly, in the far north! 14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds! I will make myself like the Most High!" 15Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit.
Jesus witnessed the fall of Satan when he rebelled in heaven.
Luke 10:18 18He said to them, "I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven.
And where did Satan fall to? He fell to the earth.
Revelation 12:3-4
3Another sign was seen in heaven. Behold, a great red
dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven
crowns. 4His tail drew one third of the stars of the sky, and
threw them to the earth. The dragon stood before the woman who was
about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her
child.
And the earth BECAME without form and void.
Genesis 1:1-31
1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2Now the earth was (became) formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep.
God's Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
The Hebrew word for "was" can be translated either "was" or "became" depending on the context and in other places it is translated became and I believe it should be translated became in this scripture. The earth became a frozen dark dead planet and scientific evidence does point to this state of our planet.
Have you seen pictures of places after a war has taken place? Reminds you of what our Solar System is like today. Waste and ruin and evidence of destruction. Now, how do I know the angels existed before the Universe was created?
Job 38:4-7 4"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding. 5Who determined its measures, if you know? Or who stretched the line on it? 6Whereupon were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
You can not sing or shout for joy, if you don’t yet exist! So we see that angels existed before the earth was created and witnessed the creation of the earth. And God renewed or refashioned the earth after the rebellion of Satan. Now do I have a scripture for that? God actually refashioning the earth? I sure do.
Psalm 104:30
30You send forth your Spirit: they are created.
You renew the face of the ground.
If you read all of Psalm 104 you will clearly see this Psalm is speaking of the Genesis creation and it states the God renews the face of the ground.
Evolutionist believe that the universe and mankind took millions of years to form. Traditional Christians believe that the universe and mankind were both formed in about 6,000 years ago. Neither are correct. Satan has so craftily deceived the whole world.
Traditional Christians can’t even get to the 3rd verse of the bible without being led astray by Satan. The Universe is perhaps millions of years old, but mankind is only about 6,000 years old. Satan does not want the world to know about his previous failure in his rebellion against God. And he has done a pretty good job of keeping the world in the dark, hasn’t he? But he didn’t fool Jesus did he?
Luke 10:18
18He said to them, "I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven.
Jesus knew and taught of Satan’s fall, but the world isn’t listening to Jesus are they? Scriptures show us there was a kingdom before mankind existed composed of spirit beings and Satan led a rebellion against that Kingdom with a third of the angels. Satan had established a new way of life based on Coveting and War with disastrous results.
The second kingdom, the Kingdom of Mankind, is here and now on earth before the return of Christ. It begins with the creation of mankind in a peaceful environment. The event that leads us to wars is the deception of mankind from Satan, leading them to rebellion from God and war. The event that brings peace is the return of Jesus and the banishment of Satan to the pit.
Genesis 1:31 31God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
Genesis 2:1-3
1The heavens and the earth were finished, and all their vast array.
2On the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work which he had created and made.
Peace was reestablished on the Earth.
Genesis 2:15-25 15Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it; for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die." 18Yahweh God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." 19Out of the ground Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. 20The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper suitable for him. 21Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22He made the rib, which Yahweh God had taken from the man, into a woman, and brought her to the man. 23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called 'woman,' because she was taken out of Man." 24 Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. 25They were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Then Satan came along and began deceiving mankind.
Genesis 3:1-6
1Now the serpent was more subtle than any animal of the field
which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman, "Has God really said,
'You shall not eat of any tree of the garden?'"
2The woman said to the serpent, "Of the fruit of the trees of
the garden we may eat, 3but of the fruit of the tree which is in
the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat of it,
neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'"
4The serpent said to the woman, "You won't surely die, 5
for God knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and
you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
6When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that
it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to
make one wise, she took of its fruit, and ate; and she gave some to her
husband with her, and he ate.
Satan lied and made Adam and Eve believe they had immortal souls and could not die. He is a liar and Adam and Eve did indeed die and set mankind on the course of rebellion and war. You may think coveting is one of the least commandments, but when you really think about it, it was the first sin that led to all the other sins of mankind. It leads to rebellion and war.
James 4:1-4
1Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they
come from your pleasures that war in your members? 2You lust, and
don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war.
You don't have, because you don't ask. 3You ask, and don't
receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it
for your pleasures. 4You adulterers and adulteresses, don't you
know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever
therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of
God.
The root cause of war is people wanting things that don’t belong to them and trying to take it from the ones who do posses it. It starts with coveting, leads to stealing and then to murder and war. Satan has taught mankind warfare and we have been going at each other since the beginning.
However, there is good news. Peace will be reestablished on the earth once again, but first Satan must be removed.
Revelation 20:1-3
1I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of
the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2He seized the dragon,
the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole
inhabited earth, and bound him for a thousand years, 3and cast
him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should
deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were finished.
After this, he must be freed for a short time.
When Satan is removed there will be peace upon the entire earth. War we be a thing of the past.
Micah 4:1-6
1But in the latter days,
it will happen that the mountain of Yahweh's temple will be
established on the top of the mountains,
and it will be exalted above the hills;
and peoples will stream to it.
2Many nations will go and say,
"Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh,
and to the house of the God of Jacob;
and he will teach us of his ways,
and we will walk in his paths."
For out of Zion will go forth the law,
and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem;
3and he will judge between many peoples,
and will decide concerning strong nations afar off.
They will beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
neither will they learn war any more.
With Satan removed, peace returns and war ends, a new kingdom is ushered in.
The third kingdom, the Kingdom of the Messiah, is the 1,000 year reign of Jesus Christ and the firstfruit saints.
Think of it, 1,000 years without a single war. But then something happens and war is once again a harsh reality.
Revelation 20:1-3 1I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2He seized the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole inhabited earth, and bound him for a thousand years, 3and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were finished. After this, he must be freed for a short time.
The event that brings war is the release of Satan and he stirs the nations to war.
Revelation 20:7-9 7And after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, 8and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9They went up over the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. Fire came down out of heaven from God, and devoured them.
The event that brings peace is the banishment of Satan again.
Revelation 20:9-10 9They went up over the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. Fire came down out of heaven from God, and devoured them. 10The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are also. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Why would God release Satan? Have you ever wondered that?
Leviticus 16:20-31
The Goat in the Wilderness represents Satan and his banishments. Aaron the High Priest represents our current day High Priest Jesus Christ who will pronounce judgment on Satan and have him sent away. For peace to be established in a kingdom, Satan must go.
How could a goat, which typically symbolizes a sinful being, be a representation of our perfect Savior?
Zechariah 3:1-10 1He showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Yahweh, and Satan standing at his right hand to be his adversary. 2Yahweh said to Satan, "Yahweh rebuke you, Satan! Yes, Yahweh who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Isn't this a burning stick plucked out of the fire?" 3Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel. 4He answered and spoke to those who stood before him, saying, "Take the filthy garments off of him." To him he said, "Behold, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you, and I will clothe you with rich clothing."
The filthy rags on our High Priest, Yahshua, are our sins brethren.
Isaiah 64:6 6For we have all become as one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is as a polluted garment: and we all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 17Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 18But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Jesus Christ, Yahshua Messiah is our sacrifice, and the Jews even to this day have missed this one. We cover this more at the Passover, but it is also an important part of Atonement. Without the sacrifice of the Messiah, we could not be reconciled to God.
Jesus Christ, Yahshua Messiah is also our High Priest and Savior, and once again the Jews even to this day don’t get it. We cover this more on Trumpets, but it is also an important part of the day of Atonement. Without the Messiah as our High Priest, we could not be saved.
Romans 5:6-10 6For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a righteous person someone would even dare to die. 8But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God's wrath through him. 10For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.
Hebrews 4:14-16 14Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession. 15For we don't have a high priest who can't be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.
Leviticus 16:32-33 32The priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father's place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments. 33Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.
Jesus Christ is consecrated as our High Priest in the place of our Father in Heaven, and the Jews totally miss this, but there it is in scripture for those who have eyes to see it. Isn't that amazing how God worked the scriptures out that these truths are preserved for us?
Matthew 11:25-27 25At that time, Jesus answered, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants. 26Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight. 27All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.
Notice, who Gave Jesus our High Priest his power? All thing have been delivered to Me by My Father, stated Jesus.
Matthew 16:27 27For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.
John 5:18-47
18For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to
kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God
his own Father, making himself equal with God. 19Jesus therefore
answered them, "Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of
himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he
does, these the Son also does likewise. 20For the Father has
affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does.
He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel. 21
For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son
also gives life to whom he desires. 22For the Father judges no
one, but he has given all judgment to the Son, 23that all may
honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn't honor the
Son doesn't honor the Father who sent him.
24"Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word, and
believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn't come into
judgment, but has passed out of death into life. 25Most certainly,
I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son
of God's voice; and those who hear will live. 26For as the Father
has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in
himself. 27He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because
he is a son of man. 28Don't marvel at this, for the hour comes, in
which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice, 29and will
come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and
those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment. 30I can
of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous;
because I don't seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
31"If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid. 32
It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which
he testifies about me is true. 33You have sent to John, and he has
testified to the truth. 34But the testimony which I receive is not
from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved. 35He
was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a
while in his light. 36But the testimony which I have is greater
than that of John, for the works which the Father gave me to
accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father
has sent me. 37The Father himself, who sent me, has testified
about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his
form. 38You don't have his word living in you; because you don't
believe him whom he sent.
39"You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them
you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me.
40Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life. 41I
don't receive glory from men. 42But I know you, that you don't
have God's love in yourselves. 43I have come in my Father's name,
and you don't receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will
receive him. 44How can you believe, who receive glory from one
another, and you don't seek the glory that comes from the only God?
45"Don't think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is
one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope. 46
For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.
47But if you don't believe his writings, how will you believe my words?"
Now, wait a minute. Jesus thinks Moses wrote about him? Moses only wrote the first 5 books of the bible. Where is Jesus in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy? I’ll tell you where:
John 14:5-11 5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going. How can we know the way?" 6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. 7If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him." 8Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us." 9Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, 'Show us the Father?' 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. 11Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works' sake.
Now where am I getting that Christ is ruling in the Father’s place?
1 Corinthians 15:20-28 20But now Christ has been raised from the dead. He became the first fruits of those who are asleep. 21For since death came by man, the resurrection of the dead also came by man. 22For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then those who are Christ's, at his coming. 24Then the end comes, when he will deliver up the Kingdom to God, even the Father; when he will have abolished all rule and all authority and power. 25For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy that will be abolished is death. 27For, "He put all things in subjection under his feet." But when he says, "All things are put in subjection," it is evident that he is excepted who subjected all things to him. 28When all things have been subjected to him, then the Son will also himself be subjected to him who subjected all things to him, that God may be all in all.
One day the Messiah will hand back the Kingdom to the Father and it will become the fourth Kingdom.
The fourth Kingdom, the Kingdom of the Father, will occur after the 1,000 year reign of Christ and after the Great White Throne Judgement. Jesus Christ will purge the earth of all sin, all death and all tears and then there will be a New Heaven and a New Earth and the Father will come and dwell with us and there will be no more War. War will be a sad relick of the past, never to return as Satan is bound and put away for good.
Revelation 20:11-15 11I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them. 12I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works. 14Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
After this Great White Throne Judgement will come the fourth Kingdom, the Kingdom of our Father.
Revelation 21:1-27 1I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more. 2I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband. 3I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, God's dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away." 5He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." He said, "Write, for these words of God are faithful and true." 6He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life. 7He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son. 8 But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." 9One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls, who were loaded with the seven last plagues came, and he spoke with me, saying, "Come here. I will show you the wife, the Lamb's bride." 10He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, as if it were a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12having a great and high wall; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel. 13On the east were three gates; and on the north three gates; and on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb. 15He who spoke with me had for a measure, a golden reed, to measure the city, its gates, and its walls. 16The city lies foursquare, and its length is as great as its breadth. He measured the city with the reed, Twelve thousand twelve stadia. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. 17Its wall is one hundred forty-four cubits, by the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. 18The construction of its wall was jasper. The city was pure gold, like pure glass. 19The foundations of the city's wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; 20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; and the twelfth, amethyst. 21The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each one of the gates was made of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. 22I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, and the Lamb, are its temple. 23The city has no need for the sun, neither of the moon, to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. 25Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there), 26and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter. 27There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Revelation 22:1-6 1He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2in the middle of its street. On this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruits, yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3There will be no curse any more. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants serve him. 4They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5There will be no night, and they need no lamp light; for the Lord God will illuminate them. They will reign forever and ever. 6He said to me, "These words are faithful and true. The Lord God of the spirits of the prophets sent his angel to show to his bondservants the things which must happen soon."
Four Kingdoms, with three of them contaminated with War from Satan preventing us from becoming at one with our Father in Heaven. When Satan is finally removed for good we will be able to be at one with our Father and he will finally come to dwell with us. What a future, what a hope, what a revelation we get from keeping the day of Atomenment.Leviticus 23:32 32It shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall deny yourselves. In the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall keep your Sabbath."
Leviticus 16:29-31 29"It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you: 30for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before Yahweh. 31It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls; it is a statute forever.
We fast because God tells us too do so. What does fasting teach us anyway?
But WE know the day of Atonement had meaning in the past, has meaning in the present, and will have meaning in the future as well. God has opened our minds to see this and we did not come to this knowledge on our own. One day, WE will teach it to the nations. I look so forward to that day, don't you?
Micah 4:1-6
1But in the latter days,
it will happen that the mountain of Yahweh's temple will be
established on the top of the mountains,
and it will be exalted above the hills;
and peoples will stream to it.
2Many nations will go and say,
"Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh,
and to the house of the God of Jacob;
and he will teach us of his ways,
and we will walk in his paths."
For out of Zion will go forth the law,
and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem;
3and he will judge between many peoples,
and will decide concerning strong nations afar off.
They will beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
neither will they learn war any more.
4But they will sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree;
and no one will make them afraid:
For the mouth of Yahweh of Armies has spoken. 5Indeed all the
nations may walk in the name of their gods;
but we will walk in the name of Yahweh our God forever and ever.
6"In that day," says Yahweh,
"I will assemble that which is lame,
and I will gather that which is driven away,
and that which I have afflicted;
7and I will make that which was lame a remnant,
and that which was cast far off a strong nation:
and Yahweh will reign over them on Mount Zion from then on, even forever."
May God hasten that day, when all mankind will understand and keep Atonement and strive to be At One with God as we strive today!
